About Gabi Madden | NYS Assembly
Effective Progressive and Proven Community Leader
Gabi Madden | Home Town Hudson Valley Girl
Gabriella (“Gabi”) Madden is a lifelong resident of Ulster County. The community of the Hudson Valley has and will always be Gabi’s lifeline. This is where she grew up, has built a career, was able to buy a home, and hopes to one day raise a family.

The daughter of hard-working parents, Gabi grew up learning the values of being of service to the community along with the grit that it takes to run a small, family-owned business by working in the family restaurant. After graduating from Kingston High School, Gabi went on to attend SUNY Ulster where she began to develop her passion for public service. She would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Marymount Manhattan College.
Experience
Having a servant heart for people and her community, Gabi began her public service work as a Constituent Representative and Communications Liaison to New York State Assemblymember Kevin Cahill. She held numerous leadership roles including Clerk of the Assembly Insurance Committee and eventually rose to the role of Chief of Staff overseeing both District and Albany operations. Following three years in the State Assembly, Gabi took on the role of Deputy Chief of Staff for New York State Senator James Skoufis.
Accountability
In more than five years working in the State Legislature, Gabi regularly advocated for constituents, developed and advanced legislation, and helped facilitate millions of dollars in State funding to local communities and non-profits. She’s been a champion for prioritizing real results for constituents and has personally resolved thousands of constituent cases.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Gabi was instrumental in working collaboratively to help Hudson Valley residents affected by the pandemic navigate the State bureaucracy to get unemployment and rental assistance benefits to provide for their families.

Family Roots
Gabriella "Gabi" Madden is the proud daughter of the late Billy Madden and Cecilia Savona Madden Loughran. Losing her father unexpectedly when Gabi was only ten years old was a transformational moment in her life. Suddenly being raised in a single-parent household brought Gabi and her Mom closer together through the challenges and difficulties of growing up without her Dad. Billy Madden was a photographer for the Daily Freeman where he would often bring Gabi to work with him. Those formative experiences helped Gabi fall in love with connecting to her community as she saw how her father was able to capture beautiful moments and stories through photography.

Gabi is the granddaughter of an Italian immigrant grandfather and an Irish grandmother. When her grandfather Emanuele 'Manny' Savona, came to America, his first job was handing out campaign flyers for John F. Kennedy's presidential election. Her grandparents, Manny and Cecilia 'Ceil' would move to Ulster County from New York City in the 1970s to open their first pizzeria. In a moment of immense pride for her family, her grandfather took the Oath of Allegiance in 1989 from his friend, the late Honorable Vincent G. Bradley, and became a citizen of the United States.

Gabi's late paternal grandparents, Lee Jane and Thomas Madden, were true public servants in the Kingston community throughout their lives. Thomas being a WWIl Purple Heart recipient, and Lee, a dedicated volunteer at the Benedictine Hospital, board member of the American Heart Association, and co-owner of Riker-Madden Real Estate.

Service above self. Home and hospitality. These are the values passed down to Gabi by her grandparents.
